Knoxville Wedding Photographers
Daniel + Martha Howell. Who are we?

We're a husband and wife team who loves to photograph the emotions of weddings, make friends with our clients, and have fun working.

We could live at Starbucks, although Daniel prefers black coffee and Martha likes "girly" drinks like Frappuccinos. We both love listening to the musical genius that is Harry Connick Jr. Our favorite vacation spot is the Big Easy - every time we leave, we know what it means to miss New Orleans. We call Sweetwater home and are happy to be here; it reminds us of where we grew up. Our little family consists of us and two adorable dogs.

Enjoy our blog and checking out our newest work and learning about us in the meantime!

Kaili and David

This weekend I met with Kaili and David (both up from Georgia and Florida) to shoot a "Portrait Session" in Nashvegas (Nashville). I had a lot of fun working with these two, as they both have great personalities and were willing to do just about anything I suggested - despite a temperature in the 40's and wind gusts of 20-30 mph! You have to love Tennessee weather. Maybe if wedding bells ring for this couple (eventually...) then they will remember the fun we had, and not the cold weather.

Here are a few of my favorites!

Three Tired Old Men

I know that the above may initially sound harsh, but that is the way Mr. John Moseley described the group when I asked what their name was. There was nothing tired about their playing, though. I saw these three perform at Einstein's Bagels in the University Center at Austin Peay State University. The percussionist (drummer) is Dr. Timothy Winters, the bassist is Mr. Moseley, and the guitarist is none other than the world famous Dr. Stanley Yates.

The three had a "practice session" for about two hours. I wish I'd been there for the first hour, but I didn't arrive until later in the show. They played to a nice crowd.

They did get some love from the crowd.

The group really is quite amazing and I hope to hear them again soon. Enjoy some of my favorite pictures from the night below.

This is one tired old man. Hey, he said it, not me.

Our New Face

I've finally figured out how to make the blog look like I want it to. One of the BIG things about these changes is the ability to post BIGGER images (yes, the sad pun is intended). Check this out:

Isn't that cool!

Emily & Neal's E-Session

I (Martha) have known Emily since I was probably about eight years old. So, when she emailed us to see if we would be available for her October wedding I couldn’t have been more thrilled! Emily now lives in Knoxville where she attends UT and met Neal.

For Emily & Neal’s Engagement session, we started on Gay Street during a snowy, windy day. Because of the weather we only stayed outside for about 45 minutes, but still got lovely shots on the two.

We then headed west to the Court Café right on the Knox/Loudon County line. The Court Café is dear to me, as my grandmother has owned it for over thirty years. There, we did more couture poses with Emily and Neal, turning out truly unique shots.

We can not wait for Emily & Neal’s wedding!

Lifestyle Session: A Grandfather & Grandsons

I (Daniel) try to stick to my photojournalistic style as much as possible, even during portrait sessions. Therefore, when I got a phone call asking me to document a grandfather and his grandsons (one of which he was meeting for the first time), I knew this was a perfect avenue for my lifestyle photo shoots. Lifestyle photo shoots tell a story – a story of each individual's personality and how the interact with each other.
